The Problem:
The truth of the matter is that debt relief is not easy. It
takes a strong commitment, the right situation and a good amount
of patience to see it through. From our experiences the number
one reason why consumers have a negative experience with a debt
relief agency is the lack of preparation on what to expect.
Clients are simply not aware of the risks involved in settling
their bills before they enroll. Most consumers will expect
success just by joining a financial assistance program and
unfortunately this is not always the case.
The Solution:
There are many options to become debt free and many companies
that offer them. The key is to find the right option for you
given your specific situation and to go with a company you can
trust to give you the best chance at success. The Bankruptcy
Avoidance Group aims to save you time, money and aggravation by
putting together a network of financial assistance programs from
leading providers who must pass certain tests of professional
standard to become a member.
Here’s how we
get it done…
Separating Effective Debt Relief from Deceptive Debt Relief
The Bankruptcy Avoidance Group is an organization made up of credible debt relief
agencies whose membership is based on critical criteria that
must be met in order to have the opportunity to serve you.
Hands-on research is performed by the Bankruptcy Avoidance Group in order to ensure an
exceptional debt relief service is provided.
What do you mean
"hands on" research?
This means a Bankruptcy Avoidance Group representative has submerged themselves in the
“client experience” in an attempt to find out everything you’d
want to know before trusting an agency to try and reduce your
debt. We do this by researching the important facets that make
up a debt relief program.
The Counseling Session- must be informative, professional and
confidential with the ability to provide more than one option.
The fees- must not be above the industry standard
Accessibility- After I sign up can I get in touch with a live
person?
Progress Reports and/or Tracking Tools- How is my program
going, is it working for me?
Customer Service Provisions- Is the amount of complaints
received proportional to the total clientele and have these
complaints been resolved to the clients satisfaction?
Settling Results- Do they do their job and get bills settled?
The Effective
Debt Relief Counseling Session
First, we go through the same counseling session you will (minus
the specifics of the situation of course). In the counseling
session we look for the following qualities to be present…
A professional, consultative attitude by the counselor
A thorough session revealing all relevant financial
information, i.e. a budget analysis, liabilities, assets, debt
management options etc.
The ability to offer more than one option to avoid bankruptcy (not just one product which many companies may try and ‘force
feed’ you because it is all they are able to offer)
A consultative
approach designed to empower you with options, rather than
hassle you into a “sale” (this is identified easier than one may
think)
Educational and
informative so you leave the session knowing more about your
options and your direction with solid estimates on possible
results.
If the counseling
session is deemed to be professional, confidential, hassle-free
and effective than other criteria must still be met.
Accessibility/Customer Service/Progress Tracking- Now that I
signed up, is there anyone there to help me and how is my
program going?
One of the most
important functions of a successful program is the accessibility
of customer service and the ability to track your progress using
tools provided by the agency. Here we test the accessibility of
the customer service to make sure there is someone present to
help you with any concerns at anytime. Keep in mind we do this
over a reasonable time frame and make the best assessment
possible based on the success of speaking with a live person
during different hours of the day. Understand that factors such
as time and growth can affect these results quickly though we
find the philosophy a company adapts as far as the proportion of
customer service to clientele usually remains consistent. Also,
the debt relief agency must show the ability to provide a
tracking tool which allows you to assess your progress
throughout a debt relief program, (this is usually done through
their website).
Complaints and
Results- How well are they doing their job?
The debt relief agency must also show an ability to resolve
complaints timely and not exceed a reasonable amount of
complaints to proportion of total clientele. This information
must be made available by the debt relief agency in order to
qualify as a member of the Bankruptcy Avoidance Group. As well, with client permission,
proof of an actual settlement must be provided.
Through this
research the Bankruptcy Avoidance Group aims to find you trusted service providers
within the debt relief industry… attempting to separate the
effective ones from the deceptive ones.
